The 15th edition of the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup, which serves as the International Hockey Federation’s quadrennial global championship for men’s national field hockey teams, will take place in 2023. From January 13 to January 29, 2023, it is held in the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar and the 20,000-seater Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, India.
Hockey World Cup 2023 Teams
Like 2018, 16 teams will participate in the competition. Apart from host India, five regional winners will be given automatic invitations. Following the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics, the number of spots available through continental championships, including World Cup hosts, was increased from six to sixteen.

India at the Hockey World Cup
In the last edition of the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in 2018, Manpreet Singh-led India topped the group stage with two wins and a 2-2 draw against eventual champions Belgium. However, after leading 1-0 at half-time, India lost 2-1 against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
India will start its bid to become world champion for the second Time in their history, against Spain at Birsa Munda on 13 January 2023 Hockey Stadium, Rourkela.
